An ITIL V3 confusion scandal?

By Linda King, G2G3

The more I read about ITIL V3 across the web, the more annoyed I get. Everywhere I look, vendors, industry sites and white papers, constantly talking about 'transitioning', 'evolving' or 'moving' from ITIL V2 to ITIL V3. But before you book the removal vans, think twice. The fact many seem to forget (or don't seem to realize) is that ITIL V2 is still there within the body of ITIL V3 - it's a logical and welcomed expansion - not a complete replacement. Despite it being a year since the launch of V3, this fact still seems to elude many people. Vendors and other industry contributors have a responsibility to make this clear, instead of trying to leverage commercial gain from the confusion they are creating.
