ITIL V3 - overkill for the masses?
By Linda King, G2G3
More and more organizations are realizing that the ITIL v3 Foundation curriculum is quite simply overkill for their needs. Many organizations who are implementing ITIL may consider certifying the entire organization to drive commitment, but then realize that the scope of the V3 Foundation syllabus is simply too wide. Inclusion of the strategy elements has added value to the content, but much of this is beyond the interests or needs of many parts of the organization.
It is however vital to create a level of awareness across the organization that will accelerate and promote acceptance of ITIL V3. An alternative to the formal and lengthy ITIL V3 training is simulation. Good ITIL V3 simulations are suitable for anyone at any level within the organization, from both the business and IT functions. These simulations bring to life the ITIL v3 theory, creating that ‘a-ha’ moment, when everything falls into place. This tends to create energy, commitment and understanding much faster than any theory driven training course.
